It is not for the faint of heart- bunny hugging- tea totting- children of any age- and most wife’s. Only because none of them understand. Guns and gun videos scantly dressed and bare breasted wimmen drinking- racing and hunting stories told here. This blog is for adults with sense of adventure and a demented sense of humor. Feel free to comment and post on here. . Grammar Police are not welcomed here.Chutin' Wimmen Racin' Likkar in a Jarhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17633030475156161891noreply@blogger.comBlogger191125truetag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4005959827187038128.post-29109744655940528602013-06-28T02:53:00.001-07:002013-06-28T02:54:51.396-07:00Good bye Censorship has caught up<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">

I have learned today that the Legendary Tom Knapp, <a href="http://www.tomknapp.net/">http://www.tomknapp.net/</a> the shotgun wielding trick shot has passed away. Tom has been featured on many shows and made as many as 8000 appearances in his career. Memorable for tossing a large pile of clay's in the air and shooting all and the ejected hulls before they hit the ground. NO matter how many times I have watched him I was left in awe.<br />
<br />
Mr Knapp will be in the company of his Mentor and the great Herb Parsons <a href="http://www.showmanshooter.com/html/herb_parsons.html">http://www.showmanshooter.com/html/herb_parsons.html</a> and recently passed pistol shooter Bob Munden.<br />

<span id="more-500"></span><br />
<blockquote>
By Lt. Col Dave Grossman<br />
Most of the people in our society are sheep. They are kind, gentle,
productive creatures who can only hurt one another by accident.” This is true.
Remember, the murder rate is six per 100,000 per year, and the aggravated
assault rate is four per 1,000 per year. What this means is that the vast
majority of Americans are not inclined to hurt one another.<br />
We may well be in the most violent times in history, but violence is still
remarkably rare. This is because most citizens are kind, decent people who are
not capable of hurting each other, except by accident or under extreme
provocation. They are sheep.<br />
Then there are the wolves and the wolves feed on the sheep without mercy. Do
you believe there are wolves out there who will feed on the flock without mercy?
You better believe it. There are evil men in this world and they are capable of
evil deeds. The moment you forget that or pretend it is not so, you become a
sheep. There is no safety in denial.<br />
Then there are sheepdogs and I’m a sheepdog. I live to protect the flock and
confront the wolf. Or, as a sign in one California law enforcement agency put
it, “We intimidate those who intimidate others.”<br />
If you have no capacity for violence then you are a healthy productive
citizen: a sheep. If you have a capacity for violence and no empathy for your
fellow citizens, then you have defined an aggressive sociopath–a wolf. But what
if you have a capacity for violence, and a deep love for your fellow citizens?
Then you are a sheepdog, a warrior, someone who is walking the hero’s path.
Someone who can walk into the heart of darkness, into the universal human
phobia, and walk out unscathed.<br />
We know that the sheep live in denial, that is what makes them sheep. They do
not want to believe that there is evil in the world. They can accept the fact
that fires can happen, which is why they want fire extinguishers, fire
sprinklers, fire alarms and fire exits throughout their kids’ schools. But many
of them are outraged at the idea of putting an armed police officer in their
kid’s school. Our children are thousands of times more likely to be killed or
seriously injured by school violence than fire, but the sheep’s only response to
the possibility of violence is denial. The idea of someone coming to kill or
harm their child is just too hard, and so they chose the path of denial.<br />
The sheep generally do not like the sheepdog. He looks a lot like the wolf.
He has fangs and the capacity for violence. The<br />
difference, though, is that
the sheepdog must not, cannot and will not ever harm the sheep. Any sheep dog
who intentionally harms the lowliest little lamb will be punished and removed.
The world cannot work any other way, at least not in a representative democracy
or a republic such as ours.<br />
Still, the sheepdog disturbs the sheep. He is a constant reminder that there
are wolves in the land. They would prefer that he didn’t tell them where to go,
or give them traffic tickets, or stand at the ready in our airports, in
camouflage fatigues, holding an M-16. The sheep would much rather have the
sheepdog cash in his fangs, spray paint himself white, and go, “Baa.” Until the
wolf shows up. Then the entire flock tries desperately to hide behind one lonely
sheepdog.<br />
The students, the victims, at Columbine High School were big, tough high
school students, and under ordinary circumstances they would not have had the
time of day for a police officer. They were not bad kids; they just had nothing
to say to a cop. When the school was under attack, however, and SWAT teams were
clearing the rooms and hallways, the officers had to physically peel those
clinging, sobbing kids off of them. This is how the little lambs feel about
their sheepdog when the wolf is at the door.<br />
Look at what happened after September 11, 2001 when the wolf pounded hard on
the door. Remember how America, more than ever before, felt differently about
their law enforcement officers and military personnel? Remember how many times
you heard the word hero?<br />
Understand that there is nothing morally superior about being a sheepdog; it
is just what you choose to be. Also understand that a sheepdog is a funny
critter: He is always sniffing around out on the perimeter, checking the breeze,
barking at things that go bump in the night, and yearning for a righteous
battle. That is, the young sheepdogs yearn for a righteous battle. The old
sheepdogs are a little older and wiser, but they move to the sound of the guns
when needed, right along with the young ones.<br />
Here is how the sheep and the sheepdog think differently. The sheep pretend
the wolf will never come, but the sheepdog lives for that day. After the attacks
on September 11, 2001, most of the sheep, that is, most citizens in America
said, “Thank God I wasn’t on one of those planes.” The sheepdogs, the warriors,
said, “Dear God, I wish I could have been on one of those planes. Maybe I could
have made a difference.” When you are truly transformed into a warrior and have
truly invested yourself into warriorhood, you want to be there. You want to be
able to make a difference.<br />
There is nothing morally superior about the sheepdog, the warrior, but he
does have one real advantage. Only one. And that is that he is able to survive
and thrive in an environment that destroys 98 percent of the population.<br />
There was research conducted a few years ago with individuals convicted of
violent crimes. These cons were in prison for serious,<br />
predatory crimes of
violence: assaults, murders and killing law enforcement officers. The vast
majority said that they specifically<br />
targeted victims by body language:
Slumped walk, passive behavior and lack of awareness. They chose their victims
like big cats do in Africa, when they select one out of the herd that is least
able to protect itself.<br />
Some people may be destined to be sheep and others might be genetically
primed to be wolves or sheepdogs. But I believe that<br />
most people can choose
which one they want to be, and I’m proud to say that more and more Americans are
choosing to become sheepdogs.<br />
Seven months after the attack on September 11, 2001, Todd Beamer was honored
in his hometown of Cranbury, New Jersey. Todd, as you recall, was the man on
Flight 93 over Pennsylvania who called on his cell phone to alert an operator
from United Airlines about the hijacking. When he learned of the other three
passenger planes that had been used as weapons, Todd dropped his phone and
uttered the words, “Let’s roll,” which authorities believe was a signal to the
other passengers to confront the terrorist hijackers. In one hour, a
transformation occurred among the passengers – athletes, business people and
parents. — from sheep to sheepdogs and together they fought the wolves,
ultimately saving an unknown number of lives on the ground.<br />
There is no safety for honest men except by believing all possible evil of
evil men. – Edmund Burke<br />
Here is the point I like to emphasize, especially to the thousands of police
officers and soldiers I speak to each year. In nature the<br />
sheep, real sheep,
are born as sheep. Sheepdogs are born that way, and so are wolves. They didn’t
have a choice. But you are not a critter. As a human being, you can be whatever
you want to be. It is a conscious, moral decision.<br />
If you want to be a sheep, then you can be a sheep and that is okay, but you
must understand the price you pay. When the wolf comes, you and your loved ones
are going to die if there is not a sheepdog there to protect you. If you want to
be a wolf, you can be one, but the sheepdogs are going to hunt you down and you
will never have rest, safety, trust or love. But if you want to be a sheepdog
and walk the warrior’s path, then you must make a conscious and moral decision
every day to dedicate, equip and prepare yourself to thrive in that toxic,
corrosive moment when the wolf comes knocking at the door.<br />
This business of being a sheep or a sheep dog is not a yes-no dichotomy. It
is not an all-or-nothing, either-or choice. It is a<br />
matter of degrees, a
continuum. On one end is an abject, head-in-the-sand-sheep and on the other end
is the ultimate warrior. Few people exist completely on one end or the other.
Most of us live somewhere in between.<br />
Since 9-11 almost everyone in America took a step up that continuum, away
from denial. The sheep took a few steps toward accepting and appreciating their
warriors, and the warriors started taking their job more seriously. It’s okay to
be a sheep, but do not kick the sheepdog. Indeed, the sheep dog may just run a
little harder, strive to protect a little beter and be fully prepared to pay an
ultimate price in battle and spirit with the sheep moving from “baa” to
“thanks”. The degree to which you move up that continuum, away from sheephood
and denial, is the degree to which you and your loved ones will survive,
physically and psychologically at your moment of truth.</blockquote>
We do not call for gifts or freedoms beyond our lot. We just need a small pat
on the head, a smile and a thank you to fill the emotional tank which is drained
protecting the sheep. And when our number is called by the Almighty, and day
retreats into night, a small prayer before the heavens just may be in order to
say thanks for letting you continue to be a sheep. And be grateful for the
thousands, millions of American sheepdogs who permit you the freedom to express
even bad ideas.</div>

...has been slow this past few weeks. Weather and work determines how much time I spend at the range. Cost and availability is a factor, but is a reasonable one. If I don't work it is a major factor. Two weeks ago today I was driving in the early morning darkness a large band or a small herd of deer ran across the road from the condo's where they were grazing to a city park. Damn I thought I had them clear when a smaller second group darted out. Obviously the slower part of the group. Well I nailed one. Now I have hunted deer in the past and have no issue harvesting one. I have had the misfortunes also to make contact on the roadways. So this did not make me nauseous or did I need professional consultations for the PTSD. Till a few hours later and the morning light illuminated the damage.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
A roll off was ordered and it was hauled to a Body shop near my residence and a person that I have dealt with in the past. Now the real issues begin. <b><i>The good hands people</i></b> at my Agency <b>laugh ( </b>No the agent really did) and with the given reply to me about why I could not have a rental. Which made absolutely no sense So when I asked for the definition of the word collision he really laughed. Believe it when I say I went off on him. A short while later the agent calls back, still not comfortable with me and again tries to tell me that comprehensive damage will not cover a rental. He then went on and told me I had not the rental clause in my policy. Damn dude you could have said this from the start. The agent now tells me I am not a nice person. Yep your right I am not, I will be changing companies soon also. He also informs me the adjuster will show up some time between the next day Tues and Fri. Great service. In the meantime the rental company is called. The cheapest possible vehicle is reserved. At my own expense.<br />
The next day I receive a call from Insurance carrier stating the adjuster would be stopping to appraise the damage in the afternoon and would call me before he got there. On my way home from the dreaded 4 letter word that gets in the way of my range time. I stop at the body shop to get my sunglasses and take a few more pic's. The appraiser is there and ready to total the vehicle. As most can tell there is damage however the airbag didn't deploy and I drove it to work a half a mile away. He is wanting to give me less than value on the vehicle. When I demand he fix it. The adjuster spent more time working this one and his body english told me didn't want to do this. He wanted the easy way out. He however did give me some help in a reduce rate with the Rental company. Still out of my pocket. Now two weeks later i sit here waiting for the call from the body shop saying I can get a ride over there to pick it up. the rental was returned on Friday when the jeep was suppose to be done.<br />
I know many of you have had similar experiences. I write this so to warn everyone of you to look over your policies and make sure you have the coverage you think you are paying for.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As I finish typing this up the body shop has called and said it's being washed and cleaned up and will be ready in an hour. I think I have said enough about my insurance companies issues, while I am not pleased with them. I will give <b>kudos</b> to the folks at <b><span style="color: lime;">Enterprise</span></b> Rentals. The customers service there was outstanding. When they heard I had been in accident they were more than willing to give me the Insurance company rate for the rental.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I don't know if I will have time for some range activities today but the weekend is just a few days closer now. Thanks for stopping by.</div>

<b style="line-height: 10.8pt;">Part II of review</b><span style="line-height: 10.8pt;">. This is the </span><b style="line-height: 10.8pt;">Chiappa 1911-.22</b><span style="line-height: 10.8pt;">, see the earlier
review below. This is a gun I want to really like. Let me reassert this
statement. I really want to like this gun, I was hoping to shine a big beacon
over this one and say, Hey look world, you are over looking a true bargain! Yet it has not given me that instant
satisfaction I was looking for. A gun out of the box that </span><span style="line-height: 14.390625px;">doesn't</span><span style="line-height: 10.8pt;"> fail. An inexpensive
target gun for plinking and training with. So for that I would say approach
cautiously. If you are a lover Of John Moses Browning’s creative masterpiece,
as I am. You still might want to have one of these. I have no </span><b style="line-height: 10.8pt;"><i><span style="color: #365f91; mso-themecolor: accent1; mso-themeshade: 191;">remorse</span></i></b><span style="line-height: 10.8pt;">
for buying it. However I can not add it to my top 5 gotta own list. My goal this day, was to successfully use
this gun without fails. I guess really it is how you measure success, I did
walk away from the range, the weapon is still intact, I did not give it a good
chuck in the Potomac on the way out. </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 10.8pt; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">

<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 10.8pt; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
So
on Monday morning I arose early and headed out to the range. After a catered
breakfast that includes piping hot coffee and fried pork chop with gravy on a
biscuit. Courtesy of <b><span style="color: red;">Hardees </span></b>drive up window! I began setting up the bay. It was a nice
overcast day, just a slight breeze, and temps ranged from the 40’s thru the mid
50’s by time I finished. Humidity ran at about 78%. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">
<span style="line-height: 10.8pt;">Due
to political motivations hoarding and stockpiling and as most speculate price
gouging is going on along. (So inexpensive is out) However I was able to put
together 400 rounds of .22 ammo. Mostly </span><b style="line-height: 10.8pt;"><span style="color: #c00000;">CCI</span></b><span style="line-height: 10.8pt;">
standard velocity 1070 fps and a 100 rounds of </span><b style="line-height: 10.8pt;"><span style="color: #0070c0;">Federal Game-Shock</span></b><span style="line-height: 10.8pt;"> JHP 1420 fps.
I loaded my three available magazines and began shooting. Let me stop here and let me point out.
Earlier I stated I </span><span style="line-height: 14.390625px;">wasn't</span><span style="line-height: 10.8pt;"> sure if I was “Limp wristing”. </span><i style="line-height: 10.8pt;">I did some research and found a video produced by the Gun manufacturer.
In which they stated because of the light recoil this seems to be a problem.
Unfortunately in my video, I always seemed to be out of the frame when shooting,
so I am unable to tell.</i><span style="line-height: 10.8pt;"> However I still insist this is not the case. Well with the first 2 magazines I had one
fail to feed and 2 rounds that did not eject completely causing the slide to
not seat. Not a good start. (The </span><span style="line-height: 14.390625px;">doesn't</span><span style="line-height: 10.8pt;"> fail thing is out the window now) This
went on for several magazines full. I stopped and reloaded the magazines with
the </span><b style="line-height: 10.8pt;"><span style="color: #548dd4; mso-themecolor: text2; mso-themetint: 153;">Federal</span> </b><span style="line-height: 10.8pt;">ammo. Not much
difference. Still spermatic ejection problems and in which caused feeding
problems. Some thing I noticed was that the magazines don’t load straight in
line (</span><i style="line-height: 10.8pt;">see photo below</i><span style="line-height: 10.8pt;">) some
staggering can be visual noticed and as I stated in the video I attempted to
correct this in the field.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">These are not doubled stacked magazines.
There is also no consistent manner in which they stagger however all three of
the magazines do it. I did shoot nearly all the ammo I took there, over 300
rounds. With only one magazine firing correctly with out failures of any kind.
If you listen near the end of the video you will <b><i>hear only</i></b><i>,</i> as I am rapidly fire off the magazine.
I am hoping that another 300 rounds and this gun will “break in”. I have not
completely given up hope on this gun. Now off to search for a source of ammo.
Like I think I pointed out in the earlier review this is one of my favorite
weapon platforms. However at this point
I am not thrilled with this gun. As far as that a .22 goes a revolver is more
reliable. Watch the video. You won’t see the frustration on my face from
clearing it so much. It is a fact I look like that all the time. The
frustration is there, and the pauses in the action will tell the story. I can
attest if the round chambers it will fire. Accuracy is there. Even with old
aging eyes. The POA and the POI are very close. If you are doing everything
right. Remember the front sight is your friend. I made no adjustments to the
sights. They are as they came out of the box.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

Congratulations to Jimmie Johnson and HMS for winning the Daytona 500, his 5th time. I was routing for the pretty lady in the Go Daddy racing suit. She giving an impressive 8th place finish in her day. Danica might not have been the first lady in a Stock Car but she is the best. She ran in the top 10 most of the race along with her historic Pole position and Leading laps record. The "good ole boys" might have to pay attention to her if they aren't already.<br />

<div style="text-align: left;">
Eight days ago when I bought this piece I thought this was great addition to my collection and ultimately a fun gun to shoot. That was before I went shopping for ammo. I had never thought I see the day a brick Of .22 ammo would be over $12., let alone a 100 rounds costing that much. So not to let this get into a rant and off subject. I will leave it at that. So taking the available ammo on hand and some I was able to secure at a local gun shop. I headed to the range this morning. It was right around 20° when I arrived sunny and just a slight wind at my back. The day did get warmer as it progressed. Even got a little mud on my Flip Flops.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I have been admiring this gun for some time now. At the past couple of Gun shows at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly Va., Taylor's and Company have had them at their display. I have several Cowboy type pistols and a Rifle that came either directly from Taylor's or a distributor. They are one of the Top dealers in the US for Cowboy Action Shooting weapons. I learned form the staff that the Chiappa is American made, (Dayton Ohio) comes with a life time warranty. Accept for weight and magazines the gun ergonomically feels like the original patent of John Moses Browning. There is 2 models that I am aware of. Military a1 style and one with the skeltonized trigger and hammer and adjustable sights..I have the Military style and even thought it has the military style sights the rear one has some left right adjustment. I found it fits securely with out any modifications to my Blackhawk retention holster, the kydec holster Springfield sends with their's and my leather holster from King Ranch saddlery. Chiappa send 2 magazines with the gun along with the lock and key a safety flag for the range cleaning brush and a decent case. I picked up an additional magazine with my purchase and found the plastic magazine retailing over 20 bucks. It's just a carbon material I believe. Nothing fancy,and feel it maybe a little over priced..<b> If you are interested in this gun call the folks at Taylor's and Company, <a href="http://www.taylorsfirearms.com/">http://www.taylorsfirearms.com/</a> </b><br />

I shot around a hundred and seventy rounds today. Would have shot more if ammo was more readily available. I experience some problems with the load of ammo I had laying around for several years. Gave the problems to the ammo and reloaded with a fresher batch. I then approached the firing line and began shooting. I found that on some occasions the ammo would not eject clearly from the chamber causing some problems. The instructional manual has a picture of the correct way the magazine should be loaded. With the bullet tips slightly angled upwards. However I did notice that the bullets seemed to jump out of the stack. They don't all lie perfectly on top of each other. Is the problem? I don't know. I will investigate it. more. I also don't know if I was limp wristing it or not. I want to say no I wasn't, but with the light recoil I may have been. Over all this little copy of my favorite pistol platform, felt great and was a joy to shoot. The smaller magazines were a bit to find the well with, but some dry fire practice at home should fix that. </div>

You will hear the new steel action targets I picked up off of E Bay. When I move to the left out of the frame. This was the other newby I was reviewing today. I will post more later this week on them. I would have liked to film more but the cameras were all shutting down, before I could set things up. If any of you in the Northern Virginia want to film for me, I could arrange some range time for the effort. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
As I stated above I was able to procure some ammo and had some stashed in different corners of the office. Not large amounts, I do not hoard ammo, I shoot it. I will tell you right now if you have any Aquiler's ammo save it for your revolvers. I did have a half of box of older CCI hollow point and a Box of 50 Winchester and 100 rounds of CCI both standard velocity bullets. I also had a magazine of misc rounds that need to be used or disposed of. Disposed of, would have been the the smarter options. I never attested to being a smart person. They did not cycle well but 8 out of 10 of them did go bang.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Overall I think this is a great plinking gun I may find out it is just a great gun after a few outings. Once a readily supply of ammo is available. It might even be fun to shoot some rabbits or squirrels with. I found without adjusting the sights I could take careful aim and put the it on the targets. I will do some further R&D on this one in the coming weeks. Check back for more details.</div>

I know I know I should be ashamed of myself. Today was maybe the nicest January day I can remember. I've been a few of them. and the memory thing maybe effected because of that. I got there early thinking I'd be done before anyone else got there. Yeah right! Northern Virginia and it's sunny and nearly 50°. What i like to refer to as morning coffee with friends could have been nicer. Took a couple familiar friends and a couple I haven't had out in awhile.<br />

Not in the picture is my Springfield 1911 the one I refer to as my BBQ Gun and my Stoeger Coach gun. This was my first SASS shotgun. Ran some muscle memory with the revolver and the 1911. Then loaded the little pocket friend with some Black Powder ammo I had put together 5 or 6 years ago for this one. This little gun amazes me how accurate it is at the distance I have shot it. Today about 12 paces in front of the bench. I fired 11 rounds at the center mass they all hit the target. Over all I had only one round I don't one to take claim for. I had also taken the Coach gun along to try out some exotic rounds that I have been picking up from <b>SRP Enterprises</b> of Portsmouth Va. you can reach him at <span style="color: #3d85c6;">srpllc@verizon.net </span>. Today's loads were called Hog Hunters/Killers they were basically I believe are 2- 50 caliber balls with 3-00 buck in each. I had shot some thru my old model 500 with the field barrel a few weeks back and thought they were pretty good. I wanted to see how they would vary with the much shorter barrels. The Stoeger has just the barrel choked Mod and Imp cylinder tubes. No screw in's. Some folks don't like the double barrel I believe it is because they have always shot a pump and have never took time to learn how to use a double. These rounds preformed excellent. I would highly recommend them for there intended use and other. I also think I prefer these over the tradition rifled slug or a round ball load and straight 00 Buck. I will try some of the additional <b>SRP</b> ammo at another time. Their a little on the spendy side but I think this an ammo you can count on. Then report on them. Again the target was only 12 paces in front of the bench. Being a lazy ass, I never moved it again and did not set out multiple targets like I do most days. This is just a standard IDPA target with band aids covering the other holes form the earlier shooting I have attached a link to the video. I received a new camera for Christmas and set it up on a small tripod and shot the video. The second one was a after thought. Video production is new to me and hope to play with it more this year. I have 4 cams here that record videos.</div>

<br />
<div align="center" class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center;">
My Top 5</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left;">
First let me wish everyone a Happy Prosperous New Year. This has been my first day off since the first. So the morning at the range was my first check on the list of things to do. It's now dark and it was time for me to finish this up and post it.</div>
<div align="center" class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I have watched an
endless amount of Video and read blogs on the top 5 guns for the SHTF-
Apocalypse situation or home defense and survival scenarios or worst yet a gun
ban. First let me say all the ones I have watched have been interesting and I
don’t always agree with the choices of the authors. However it is their
individual selections and most defend or explain their choices. So before I become
retentive with others selection. I set some criteria with my selections. The
choices I make will first off be the only five you could have. Not what I
necessarily already own. I will attempt to not allow that to sway my choices.
Remember as of the time of this post I am not treated with author weapons and
other toys to play with. Hey! Not that I wouldn't gladly critique them and put
some thru a test. I can make arrangements for that at any time some one like
Ruger or Smith- Stoner- Remington- Uberti want to help me out? Any of the others
not mention. In the meantime there is no outside influence of the selection. My
criteria 1) the only five you can have. 2) Why I think they are needed i.e.:
hunting- defense and reliability etc.3) Individual capabilities 4) User
friendliness (is that a word?) 5) <b>Cost
and cost</b> to use or maintain.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoListParagraph" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; text-indent: -.25in;">
<!--[if !supportLists]-->11)<span style="font-size: 7pt;"> </span><!--[endif]-->Marlin/Glenfield model 60 .22 rifle; I am sure many will disagree, this is my
choice and blog. The reason I picked this one falls well in my set criteria.
Over all cost there were gazillion of these that were made and can be found at
a reasonable price, .22 long rifle ammo can be bought at Wal-mart how much more
convenient could that be? Even with them being semi- auto they are still a
simple weapon to operate and most new shooters can master it in a short period
of time. I can hear many of you already saying it is well under powered. Is it
really? Some say the .30-30 is responsible for killing more deer than any other
weapon. Since it illegal in most areas to hunt deer with, we will never know
the true number the .22 is responsible for harvesting. However deer and
elephants are better hunted with other weapons. However small game can feed you
and your family pretty easily. A fairly quite weapon, so the stealth factor is
built in. They are also easy to maintain.</div>

<!--[if !supportLists]-->22)<span style="font-size: 7pt;"> </span><!--[endif]-->Ruger GP 100/SP100 in .357 cal.This can be bought with numerous
barrel lengths and optional grip styles.(See picture in number 3) Again
availability from new or old it’s hard not to find one in any giving gun shop-
gun show or on line trader. Winning in the reliability and the defense
category. This double action piece is user friendly, is great for the expert
shooter or the beginner. CCW or open carry or in the night stand or glove box.
In .357 cal for defense and able to use .38 spl. For target shooting and or
even hunting. This is a low cost ammo (lower compared to some), and easily
reloaded at even lower cost. I know that there are revolvers by other companies
that are cheaper and some more expensive. That some others prefer. My choice is
based on the Ruger reliability and over all purchase cost. This weapon is carried by many Security
companies thru out this area. Reason? Dependability and COST.</div>
<div class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; text-indent: -.25in;">
<!--[if !supportLists]-->33)<span style="font-size: 7pt;"> </span><!--[endif]-->Marlin 1894c in .357/38 preferably an older
model minus the cross bolt safety. I know many of think this is too “Old
School”. First this is a great companion carbine to go with the pistol. Caliber’s is the same, making bulk purchases
of ammo or reloading sensible. If you reload some pretty stout hunting loads
can be developed. Capacity is 10 .38 spl and 8 .357 rounds. With a moderate
rate of fire. In a novice like my own hands. Very simple to operate and
maintain. Including repairs This can be a low budget option for all your close
to middle range weapon. This is the one I am going to have to admit of owning. That
said I have several other lever action guns. This would be the one I would keep
if the time came I needed to get rid of all but one. I've made many accurate
100 yard shots with reloads from this weapon. Down side to reloading this one
is not a speed demon however with some practice you can learn to reload it at a
decent rate. In my case I’ll take the accuracy over the speed. This weapon can
easily be modified with a scope or peep sights.</div>

This weapon again fits and excels
in all of my stated criteria. I am sure a novice would easily start off with a
single barrel, single shot shotgun and could learn to use it, or even a double
barrel. However these weapons are easily learned by any one needing weapon for
any of the scenarios previously mentioned. Ammo can range from hunting loads
from Wal-mart at less than 40 bucks for the 8 pack (200 rounds) to a buck a
shot for hunting and defense loads. Shells are easily reloaded with a minimum
of tools and equipment. Projectiles for the loads are not limited to shot or
buck and ball. </div>

Mossberg like the others listed here make a very reliable weapon and are used
by the Military and LEO’s and civilians all over the world. Again there were
millions of these produced. It can and will keep you and your family fed and
will protect you as well. There are many configurations and optional styles
readily available and kits for the DIY selfer’s. When the job absolutely needs
to get done this is the choice.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: .25in;">
Before I give you my last choice,
I like to say I think these 4 would be absolutely what I needed. I have
traveled entire Montana hunting seasons as a packer with no more than a .22
revolver in my saddle bag. So if cash is the issue, remember you don’t need to
go mortgage the homestead or run your credit cards to the brink. To get that
little extra bit of security. You can
always hunt with a bow and learn to build traps for small game to feed your
self with. Which aren't bad skills to learn as it is. You can build hog traps
or snares and box traps for grouse pheasants and rabbits the like. I would also
like for you to not rule out the use of a muzzle loading rifle or revolvers. If
and when the government turns, and it will, we will all be rouge. Acquiring and
storing supplies will be hard to do. Black powder can be made in your back yard
and casting your own lead for these is fairly simple also. Visit my friend <span style="color: blue;">brushhippie’s YouTube videos.</span> Now
on to number 5.<br />
<br />

<!--[if !supportLists]-->55)<span style="font-size: 7pt;"> </span><!--[endif]-->Your probably think I ate the mushrooms on this
one. My final choice is actually a draw. Both choices are becoming harder to
find. However these are the guns, I chose. I feel you could cosmoline up and
bury for that SHTF scenario. They both could be used for self defense and
survival hunting. Either the Springfield Scout or the H&R Topper Over under
rifle shotgun combo. These came in variety of caliber with a 20 gauge barrel on
top. The scout below is in .410. Unfortunately I was unable to steal a picture
of one to add to this. I have added the “Scout”. This gives you that last
chance when you take to the woods, or just for carrying while you backpack the
wilderness. If you got one of these for
sale let me know. BTW at the last Gunshow the one I could fine was overpriced has everything else there. They are still available.</div>

The past 4 years have been filled with fear and panic among the Gun community. Be it sportsman- collectors- hunters. The most recent incident at Sandyhook. Where a madman unleashed his hell. Leaving a 26 dead in total. Mostly children and their adult caretakers/teachers. This undoubtedly is a very sad day for the Connecticut community and the families of all. This is also be a day that most caring humans will never forget. Unfortunately the Commander in Chief and senior members of Senate will use this as a political platform to push their agendas. Even thought their well rehearsed statements say how regretful they are. Are they really? I would like to believe that their hearts are filled with sorrow for the families. However in the same news article I read how the Feinstien and Obama have plans for further gun bans. Maybe tougher than the Clinton days. So finding these statements make me feel that a good coat of whitewash is being spread over the bloodstains. It appears that the their powers are closed minded to any other solutions. They see only Black Evil tool. Not the sick and mentally unstable administrator of this most vile crime.<br />
I don't want to see armed persons patrolling the school. It would appear that we live in a police state. On the other hand our Government has had no qualms about sending our children to foreign countries, to assure madmen don't gun down children trying to receive an education. Protecting women in schools and voting polls. Yet Mr.Obama doesn't want to have armed persons in our schools. Hey Barry! pull your head out of your ass. You don't think properly trained, uniformed and armed persons on the campus around the country won't deter more incidences and crime? Then start bringing our troops home from the Middle east tomorrow. Then when they are unemployed and their children are freely massacred in another school you can explain it to them. I don't always agree with the NRA but I do back them on protecting our Nations schools and campus's.<br />
In a Panic the Law abiding citizens flock to Gun shows -gun stores and online retailers and purchase everything related till the shelves are bare. In the meantime the retailers spark the fear by repeating the intend of our elected officials. Then doubling the prices. Because for some reason paying more these items will protect us better. It sure the hell boost some arms companies stocks the past couple of weeks. The Y2K effect on the "preppers" and the believers of the Constitution. The world as we fought to have is coming to an end. The cost of Freedom has just got a little more expensive. So I guess if this is what will cost me, I too have been sucked in.<br />
Just remember we have warned you not to step on the snake.<br />

Thanks for reading my rant. I know I am just preaching to the choir. In hopes to get a new choir member is all I am looking for. In mean time I found these videos on Youtube today. Veterans remembered and other stuff<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
November 11th in Northern Commonwealth and 74° as I write this. Little cool this morning and a jersey and cap were needed while doing some practice drills at the range this morning. By 0900 I was sweating and my beanie was on the seat of the jeep. A couple hundred rounds later and I was packed up driving down the road both front windows down and George Thorougood blasting on the CD player. never thought I would think a CD player could be out dated. That could be a whole new subject. The range was busy with others and a IDPA match was also starting. So many in the shooting friendly neighborhood also took advantage of this rare November weather. I was able to successfully use my ammo carefully and skillfully. Moving 3 targets to different positions. practicing 2 to the chest one to the head. Reloads and having an occasional double feed and 1 stove pipe. Gave me plenty of real life practice.<br />
<br />

<br />
Practicing with my 1911's then running some drills with my main carry Glock 22. Practicing one handed weak hand also. I feel comfortable to protect me and my loved ones with any of these.<br />

I now face the 45 minute drive home. It's a mostly country travel and day like to day takes all the stress out of the little traffic I did encounter. I did notice that people are still very patriotic in this area. No matter what the recent election outcome is. Flags fly High and proud Red White Blue ribbons decorating the yards as I travel by. In remembrance of the Veterans who have served and who have passed in the defending the greatest country on earth. I myself served in a very unpopular war. At the time thought it was wrong. I learned as I served and as I got older that it indeed is about freedom. Young men and women dying is wrong especially if know one remembers. If you haven't already today. Stop and thank a Vet. I work with many Veterans of the current conflict and I want to thank each and everyone of them. They succeed where politicians fail. Thank You and may your Gods look over each and everyone of you.</div>

I can't urge you enough to use this freedom. That so many have and are willing to die for. This election may go down in History as more historical than the 2008 race. In 48 hours from now the polls on the east coast will begin to close. You'll wake up the next morning saying maybe I should have. If you hadn't vote you wasted your individual freedom, and far I am concerned your right to Bitch about who ever is in office. My candidate is not on the ballot. Yes I could right him in but it won't change the outcome so I have selected who I am voting for. Here in the Commonwealth there are some changes needed also. I won't be voting just on the presidential level. Come Hurricanes or Blizzards I will be at the Poll at opening time. I hope all who follow me will also. Remember our brothers sisters uncles cousins and fathers who have sacrificed for this so get your asses to the poll.<br />
