Panic

The past 4 years have been filled with fear and panic among the Gun community. Be it sportsman- collectors- hunters. The most recent incident at Sandyhook. Where a madman unleashed his hell. Leaving a 26 dead in total. Mostly children and their adult caretakers/teachers. This undoubtedly is a very sad day for the Connecticut community and the families of all. This is also be a day that most caring humans will never forget. Unfortunately the Commander in Chief and senior members of Senate will use this as a political platform to push their agendas. Even thought their well rehearsed statements say how regretful they are. Are they really? I would like to believe that their hearts are filled with sorrow for the families. However in the same news article I read how the Feinstien and Obama have plans for further gun bans. Maybe tougher than the Clinton days. So finding these statements make me feel that a good coat of whitewash is being spread over the bloodstains. It appears that the their powers are closed minded to any other solutions.  They see only Black Evil tool. Not the sick and mentally unstable administrator of this most vile crime.
I don't want to see armed persons patrolling the school. It would appear that we live in a police state. On the other hand our Government has had no qualms about sending our children to foreign countries, to assure madmen  don't gun down children trying to receive an education. Protecting women in schools and voting polls. Yet Mr.Obama doesn't want to have armed persons in our schools. Hey Barry! pull your head out of your ass. You don't think properly trained, uniformed and armed persons on the campus around the country won't deter more incidences and crime? Then start bringing our troops home from the Middle east tomorrow. Then when they are unemployed and their children are freely massacred in another school you can explain it to them. I don't always agree with the NRA but I do back them on protecting our Nations schools and campus's.
In a Panic the Law abiding citizens flock to Gun shows -gun stores and online retailers and purchase everything related till the shelves are bare. In the meantime the retailers spark the fear by repeating the intend of our elected officials. Then doubling the prices. Because for some reason paying more these items will protect us better. It sure the hell boost some arms companies stocks the past couple of weeks. The Y2K effect on the "preppers" and the believers of the Constitution. The world as we fought to have is coming to an end.  The cost of Freedom has just got a little more expensive. So I guess if this is what will cost me, I too have been sucked in.
Just remember we have warned you not to step on the snake.

Thanks for reading my rant. I know I am just preaching to the choir. In hopes to get a new choir member is all I am looking for. In mean time I found these videos on Youtube today. It refreshing change from us "Old disgruntle white guys." Please give his videos a look and  him a thumbs up. Why your at it give me one too.

Day at the Range. Veterans remembered and other stuff

November 11th in Northern Commonwealth and 74° as I write this.  Little cool this morning and a jersey and cap were needed while doing some practice drills at the range this morning. By 0900 I was sweating and my beanie was on the seat of the jeep.  A couple hundred rounds later and I was packed up driving down the road both front windows down and  George Thorougood blasting on the CD player. never thought I would think a CD player could be out dated. That could be a whole new subject. The range was busy with others and a IDPA match was also starting. So many in the shooting friendly neighborhood also took advantage of this rare November weather. I was able to successfully use my ammo carefully and skillfully. Moving 3 targets to different positions. practicing 2 to the chest one to the head. Reloads and having an occasional double feed and 1 stove pipe. Gave me plenty of real life practice.

Practicing with my 1911's then running some drills with my main carry Glock 22. Practicing one handed weak hand also. I feel comfortable to protect me and my loved ones with any of these.

Band aides keep target shooting like this in order. Nothing like shooting a peppered target and not knowing where the impact was. Or wasn't

Lesser valued target but a target no less

Once I figure out how to use the Iphone correctly I may be able to add a little more to my range reports.

I now face the 45 minute drive home. It's a mostly country travel and day like to day takes all the stress out of the little traffic I did encounter. I did notice that people are still very patriotic in this area. No matter what the recent election outcome is. Flags fly High and proud Red White Blue ribbons decorating the yards as I travel by. In remembrance of the Veterans who have served and who have passed in the defending the greatest country on earth. I myself served in a very unpopular war. At the time thought it was wrong. I learned as I served and as I got older that it indeed is about freedom. Young men and women dying is wrong especially if know one remembers. If you haven't already today. Stop and thank a Vet. I work with many Veterans of the current conflict and I want to thank each and everyone of them. They succeed where politicians fail.  Thank You and may your Gods look over each and everyone of you.

VOTE!

I can't urge you enough to use this freedom. That so many have and are willing to die for. This election may go down in History as more historical than the 2008 race. In 48 hours from now the polls on the east coast will begin to close. You'll wake up the next morning saying maybe I should have.  If you hadn't vote you wasted your individual freedom, and far I am concerned your right to Bitch about who ever is in office.  My candidate is not on the ballot. Yes I could right him in but it won't change the outcome so I have selected who I am voting for. Here in the Commonwealth there are some changes needed also. I won't be voting just on the presidential level. Come Hurricanes or Blizzards I will be at the Poll at opening time. I hope all who follow me will also. Remember our brothers sisters uncles cousins and fathers who have sacrificed for this so get your asses to the poll.

VOTE!

I can't urge anyone that visit's this page enough to express their freedom and VOTE! Before you go off mumbling well Romney payed less taxes than I did, remember he paid more taxes than you earned. If your still convinced he's not your choice then take a minute and read this.

Inflation and Shooting Sports

Recently I bought some RWS 1075 percussion caps for my revolvers, When the clerk asked for a Jackson for the 2 100 cap tins. I about swallowed my snuff. Holy Hay-zus! that's a dime apiece. Reluctantly I paid it, however the more I thought about it the more I thought it was a damn crime. The shop where I bought them has an outdoor range. It's free to shoot there however, you must buy their ammo. So yes it is priced accordingly. Hey folks I don't want to shoot them there? I began bitching at several Gun related forums. Where I learned that the prices vary from area to area but start around $5.00 per hundred to around $7. With one other place I recall stat$10. I made arrangement a few days later to pick up some Black Powder from a dealer a hour or so away. Great guy has bulk prices doesn't care if you mix the grain sizes. I checked he sold the same caps when in stock for $6. per hundred and $56 per thousand. Little bit better. Black Powder shooters, check out Back Creek Gun Shop Winchester Va.
Home and settled down some. I realize that the entire industry has had price increases over the past 4 or 5 years. Fear? Good marketing ploys? Shortages? man made or real? Hoarding (prepping)? The many wars our elected officials seem to keep us involved in?You pick the excuse. Lead sky rocketed in prices. Have you bought a car battery lately? Gun Powder of all types has doubled in most cases. Primers Up about 50% and would be higher if the dealers thought they could get away with it. Brass, and all the components, then the guns themselves. Guns have doubled in price also. Is this safe to keep buying will the prices top out and eventually fall to nothing like the housing market? Like precious medals have done.
Since I don't cast, I shop the internet for the best prices on what ever bullet I need to stock up. I don't compete much anymore. However I still like to shoot and have such a wide variety of weapons to play with. I need to save a buck where I can to continue their enjoyment. If I can get  free shipping from one dealer or another then I jump on it. Still not a sure thing but, it gives you a mark to shoot for. Remember most on line companies charge shipping and some times Haz-Mat fees. I guess I need to start doing that with Percussion caps also.
Drop in at the remarks section below and let me know the price on caps or primers in your area. Not asking where you live but, a general area would be nice.

Hunting seasons are gearing up. Ya'll be safe out there. Don't be like this Goober

Range day

Spent a couple hours at the range this morning. Sorted some things out with my deer rifle and tried a new load in my 1895 Marlin cowboy .45-70. I also played with my little pocket gun. Without getting into a rant I picked up left over trash and brass that other shooters decide to leave laying. I was also able to recover easily about half pound of lead. Without digging the berms or sifting dirt. I don't cast, but I am going to investigate doing so this next few months.

The .30-30 loads I made earlier I found a chamber problem with due to improper sizing. I have shot the last of them now and can start over. Performance wise there is nothing wrong with them.  The .45-70 loads were some 550 grain cast loads I picked up at the Gunshow. I had been loading some 405 and 390 grainers, with both Black Powder and smokeless. Finding smokeless run about equal to slightly better in this gun. These 550 grain slugs were supposedly made to run around 1400 fps, I did not have access to a chrony so can only go by what the dealer told me.I can attest, they are at the my threshold for recoil. I am certain Rogue elephants and bison should beware of them. The remainders will be stored for such targets.

My little project pocket pistol "Little E" out performed me today. I love the way it handles.

This is the second consecutive time I have gone to the range and picked up other trash. I don't get it! Pick your shit up and place it in the barre. Better yet take it home with you.

So get the week started right here's what most of you come here for.

Just some random crap.

Here's just some random crap to share.

First spent some time at the range today. Most of all the weather here in Virginia and especially in the lower right corner was perfect. Days like today are too few. I spent some time playing with some of my favorites shooting at Steel targets with cast ball rounds form the 45's and cast lead bullets from the Glock. Holy crap did he say, cast lead from a Glock? Yes I did! It preforms better than I do. Things I learned the same identical round from a 1911 is 200fps slower than it is from a Hi-point carbine. That 230 grain round at over a 1040 fps is just awesome.
I also learned if I want to shoot like "Hickok 45" I need to take more ammo to the range. I was able to ring "Evil Roy" at 50 yards and many of my misses hitting the target directly behind it at a 100 yards.Using my 3rd gen Glock 22. So using a Glock at longer distances is not out of the question.

BTW the 1911 was doing it's job at 25 yards. I can't always say that about my eyesight.

This is from the Marlin Forum and thought I share it. It's  pretty interesting History lesson

I said this would be random crap. I have been trying to avoid Political stuff but sometimes get sucked in. Any that know me know I would not piss on either candidate if they were on fire. However this was in my inbox today, and thought I would share it.  If you like it thank Jeffie for it, if not just pretend you didn't read it.

One sunny day in January, 2013, an old retired Marine approached the
White House from across Pennsylvania Avenue where
he'd been sitting on a park bench.

He spoke to the U.S. Marine standing guard and said, "I would
like to go in and meet with President Obama."

The Marine looked at the man and said, "Sir, Mr. Obama is no longer President
and no longer resides here."
The old man said, "Okay," and walked away.

The following day the same man approached the White House
and said to the same Marine,
"I would like to go in and meet with President Obama."

The Marine again told the man, "Sir, as I said yesterday,
Mr. Obama is no longer President and no longer resides here."

The man thanked him and again just walked away.
The third day the same man approached the White House
and spoke to the very same U.S. Marine, saying,
"I would like to go in and meet with President Obama.

"The Marine, understandably agitated at this point,
looked at the man and said,
"Sir, this is the third day in a row you have been here
asking to speak to Mr. Obama.

I've told you already that Mr. Obama is
no longer the President and no longer resides here.
Don't you understand?"

The old man looked at the Marine and said,
"Oh, I understand.
I just love hearing it."

The Marine snapped to attention, saluted, and said,
"See you tomorrow, Sir.

As you know if you follow my BLOG I love the ladies. All of them. I have my personal favorites and even though I have been married to a Blonde, I wouldn't say they are my favorites. However I seen this little gal today at Domai and had to share her.

Then it is Thursday so some Tatts might be in order.

Get out to the range this weekend weather forecast is more of this great weather. Be safe in what ever you do.  Stripper (Rock fish not girls on a brass pole) season is less than 2 weeks away.

Labor Day Weekend

The official end of summer 2012 is upon us. Buffett played at the "Lube" Saturday. The highway near here is packed with Northern States license plates. As they scurry back to places no one really wants to vacation at. Yesterday spent some time in the Heat and Humidity shooting and stopped for some local flair on the way home. Today I spent working on projects and doing my housework and cooking. It's only September and there's plenty of good weather still to come before the dark of winter.
I recently needed to make a decision on vehicles. Fix or replace? I decided to downsize somewhat and replace. The engine in my beloved F150 had 250K and finally expired. It looks nice yet and with someone with skills they should be able to have it back on the road in a couple of days. So now it has sat in the driveway for a month. Today I placed an ad at Craigslist. literally in minutes I had responses to the ad. Of course he was a dealer, like a Horse dealer they want to grab as quick as they can to maximize their profits and keep the next dealer from getting it. Sorry Amigo it's not my first Rodeo. You want pictures look at the ad, I placed several. Not too worried about him had 4 calls the first hour of the ad. To maximize response I also offered to trade. Besides cash and horses <( I don't need one thank you) there are only two other things I like. Liquor is not one of them. Think title of BLOG. At work, I have openly stated, that my Supervisor were just Used Car Salesman. Like lawyers and many cops and congressmen, are they all that blatant, that you can pick them out of a crowd. We use to call horse dealers "Pen Hookers" or "Gypsies" always had a trick up their sleeve and should never be trusted. Now a days you need to habla a second language to keep them from trying to sneak up on ya. That's enough bitchin'.
The past few weekends have been hot and humid and  as I mentioned earlier. With some thunderstorms thrown in just to stir it up. However it had not deterred this old man from getting out to the range. I don't know if I will be able to say that in January or Feb.We will see. In the meantime I have been setting some projects up for then. Keeping the dust outside. What kind of projects. For one I have a Frankengun I am working on and I hope to have finished and range results by the years end. Along with some video taping, couple other things as well.  Keep an eye on this space.I'm kinda of a tard when it comes to uploading so I am learning.  In the meantime enjoy the eyecandy. See ya at the range.

 SMILE!
